From the Bowdon Prep sports field to the world stage…🌍

We couldn’t be prouder of former Bowdon Prep pupil and Sports Captain, Carys, who is set to represent Scotland at this year’s Lacrosse World Championships in Japan 🇯🇵

Carys’ love of sport – and lacrosse in ...particular – began here at Bowdon Prep and continued to flourish throughout secondary school. At just 17 years old, she made her debut for the Scottish Women’s Lacrosse team, becoming the youngest player ever to do so. Now, having completed her A-levels at 18, she is ready to take on the very best in the world.

Carys has always embodied our vision to Believe, Persevere and Succeed. Looking back through her Year 6 Leavers’ Book, she wrote that she wanted to be an athlete when she grew up. Carys, through your dedication, resilience and countless hours of hard work, that dream has become a reality.

After England’s narrow semi-final defeat to Argentina in the football World Cup, we’re hoping Scotland can get one back! Carys and her teammates face Argentina in their opening match, and everyone at Bowdon Prep will be cheering them on from afar.

Reflecting on our Leavers’ Assembly last Friday, we could not be more proud of our Year 6 pupils.

The day was a beautiful showcase of excellence. From the stunning musical performances and uplifting choral pieces to the poise and passion with which our leavers spoke, their confidence ...shone brightly as they reflected on their journey at BPS.

There were tears, of course, from pupils, parents, and staff alike, but above all, there was an overwhelming sense of pride. These incredible young people truly embody our vision to Believe, Persevere, and Succeed.

Class of 2026, you are officially ready to fly. We will miss you immensely, but we know you are going to do amazing things.

A little sneak peek behind the scenes...

Our incredible Chamber Choir, made up of our wonderful Year 5 and 6 pupils, has been working so hard preparing for Friday’s Leavers’ Assembly. Under the remarkable leadership of Mrs. Stiles and Mrs. Fan, they sound absolutely beautiful.

... Friday is undoubtedly going to be an emotional rollercoaster as we say farewell to this special group of children. Mrs. Hughes even popped in to watch the rehearsal (safely out of shot!) to get her first round of tears out of the way early!

TWO SHOWS DOWN, ONE SELL OUT FINALE TO GO

​Our incredible Year 5 and Year 6 pupils have already given two absolutely phenomenal performances of Aladdin Jr. at the Waterside Arts Centre, and the energy has been electric! Tonight, we take the stage for our final performance in front of a ...completely sold-out crowd of 350 people!

​Months of hard work, relentless rehearsing, and pure dedication have led to this moment. From the acting and dancing to the singing, props, and costumes, you have completely transported us to the magical land of Agrabah, and tonight is going to be the biggest and most magical show yet!

Set against the incredible backdrop of Ullswater in the Lake District National Park, this was a week of challenge, adventure and unforgettable memories.

The pupils pushed themselves out of their comfort zones and achieved more than they thought possible. Through climbing, gorge walking, ...brave jumps and canoeing across the lake, they showed resilience, teamwork and a real willingness to give everything a go.

Despite the heat, it didn’t stop the fun or the adventure. A brilliant week of making memories, building confidence and learning skills that will stay with them long after Year 6.

Our children truly embodied the famous words of Kurt Hahn, the Co-Founder of Outward Bound, who said: "There is more in us than we know. If we can be made to see it, perhaps, for the rest of our lives we will be unwilling to settle for less."

By conquering every mountain, challenge and personal fear this week, they discovered exactly what they are capable of, a realisation that will undoubtedly shape their futures.

2ND IN THE UK!

What an extraordinary day for our Year 5 pop lacrosse team. They traveled to Stoke to take on the Year 6 National Finals, going toe-to-toe with the country’s strongest teams in the age category above. We are proud to share that they came away as National Silver Medalists. ...Even more incredible, we were the only ALL GIRLS’ team in the entire competition!

Facing older and more experienced opposition, our team showed immense heart. They held their nerve through thrilling extra-time matches, a nail-biting golden goal penalty shootout in the semi-finals, and a hard-fought battle in the grand final.

Finishing as National Championship Runners-Up is a truly historic achievement. Every single player demonstrated the ultimate BPS spirit: Believe. Persevere. SUCCEED.

A huge thank you to our PE teacher, Mrs. Baxter, for her brilliant coaching and leadership throughout this unforgettable tournament.

Welcome to a morning in Kindergarten at Bowdon Prep, where structured learning and child-led discovery blend seamlessly together. We believe that a thriving Early Years foundation starts with movement,... which is why our children love starting their day developing coordination on the tennis courts with Mrs. Baxter.

Back in the classroom, our continuous provision gives the children the freedom to explore, create, and build on their confidence. From the mathematical language being unlocked by Mrs. Fan in our classroom shop to our targeted, teacher-led phonics sessions, every corner of our room serves a purpose.

Watch closely and you will see children building spatial awareness with shape puzzles, mastering their pincer grip as they pinch and pick up small balls with tweezers, and developing early writing skills through creative mark-making and interactive whiteboards, all while working closely alongside our teaching team for focused phonics.
